Today we had a very nice assembly at school. The pricipal explained to the kids why all the flags were at half-mast. Most young cildren don't understand why. They seemed to be quite serious about the whole event. The band and orchestra played "God Bless America" we sang "God Bless the USA", and the color guard from the neighboring High School posted the colors. I have several book depicting the history of "the Star-spangled Banner", the Statue of Liberty, The Pledge of Allegence and the state. We are having a nice day learnig about all that is America. One thing that is special is each class has part of the list of victims names. We are writing those names on cards and placing all 3,000+ names out along the fence of our school with flags. I think when you see th list and begin to write, a modicum of understanding begins to happen. As I look at all the names and their ages, how truely sad that so many bright, young stars were taken. I am grateful for their sacrifice. catsnapples in first grade and at life ___________________________________________
