Roller Coaster Ride

06.08.2003 | 5:17 pm

Our anniversary was about the same as it has always been for about the past ten years. We always go out to eat at the German restaurant called the Bavarian Point. We are always served way too much food, thus necessitating the use of a doggie dish to bring home left-overs. This delightful food is then quickly consumed by whatever lucky child happens to be home. This time is was Mariethe lucky girl! She made it from Pennsylvania in one piece with all the kids. They were safe and sound, but a bit ragged around the edges. It was a long day on the plane with three children, flying across these United States. Im glad her hubby, Matt will be coming later in the week, and will be able to help her with the trip home.

The baby is sooo terribly cute and friendly, I can hardly believe it! His little smile and laughter are infectious. Last night everyone settled down to sleep about 9:00 Pm our time, which would be 12:00 Eastern Daylight time. Needless to say, everyone had long, long naps today after church.

The other grandma had an incident with her stint (heart procedure) Friday night, and she isnt able to have the kids too long for fear of too much stress. I feel bad for her, but it will take away some of the friction with Maries family here. She was really in a snit about Matt and Marie staying with us for the wedding. Oh well, we did pay for half their airline tickets. Hmmm.

My brother, the Podiatrist is so happy about this big family party. All of the brothers and sisters will be here. Even my moms twin brother is coming from Utah to attend the wedding. This will make mom so very happy. We received this news this morning. Just a while ago, brother called once again to tell me that one of our Utah cousins had passed away. What a roller coaster ride of emotions today has been. This cousin was in his 40s and had been an alcoholic all his life. He had some sort of seizure, then his organs began to shut down, and that was it. Instead of sending flowers, I think we will send the family money to fly his wife from Texas to Utah for the funeral. This is truly sad for that side of the family. I know they will struggle through this loss, for thy have lost their faith in the Lord and see little hope for the future at times. We will pray for them, and send our thoughts and regards to the remaining brother and sisters, whom we love dearly.
